God begin expanding the universe in Genesis 1

Life Church Assembly of God - DAY TWENTY FIVE: I AM THE LORD WHO STRETCHES OUT THE HEAVENS (Isaiah 44:24) 24 This is what the Lord says, He who is your Redeemer,

H- [X] Psalms 33:6 — By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. Creation Series

E- The LORD  [O] made the heavens from nothing. He spoke them into being with His breath and words. Edwin Hubble [1889-1953] in 1929 published research work that said the universe is expanding at a rapid rate. It is expanding into vacant space. This is similar to when God created  the universe out of nothing – vacant space. The Hubble telescope was launched to refine Hubble’s law [launched 1990 and modified 5 times by 2009]. The James Webb Space Telescope was launched 12-25-2021 to supplement and hopefully replace Hubble.

“The universe is expanding – fast. Researchers had a pretty good idea how fast, but now, they measured in even greater detail: it is expanding at a rate of 74 kilometers (46 miles) per second per megaparsec (a megaparsec being about 3 million light-years). Hard to wrap your head around it?” Source. God’s omnipotence and omnisapence attributes are not comprehendible by humans.

Yet there is more, science finally caught up with the Bible.

The Bible references the beginning of the universe in Genesis 1, and it also speaks of an expanding universe in the following passages:

Isaiah 42:5 – “This is what God the LORD says—the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out . . .”

Isaiah 44:24 – “ . . . I am the LORD, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens . . .”

Isaiah 45:12 – “My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.”

Jeremiah 10:12 – “God . . . stretched out the heavens by his understanding.”

Jeremiah 51:15 – “He founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.”

A- Our God is omnisapient – all-wise, and omnipotent – all-powerful, and omnipresent – present every where at the same time, and omniscient – all-knowing. Source

R- O God help me to rely on Your power, wisdom, presence, and knowledge every day. [A]

A psalm of praise.

Psalm 33 CSB A psalm of David written at an unknown time.

H- & E- X

  • The psalm begins with Praise with words and music.

Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous ones; praise from the upright is beautiful.
Praise the LORD with the lyre; make music to him with a ten-stringed harp.
Sing a new song to him; play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout.

  • The Lord’s word is powerful enough to create the universe but full of love.

For the word of the LORD is rightand all his work is trustworthy.
He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the LORD’s unfailing love.

The heavens were made by the word of the LORDand all the stars, by the breath of his mouth.
He gathers the water of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses.
Let the whole earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
For He spoke, and it came into being; He commanded, and it came into existence.

  • The nations and people and their choices.

10 The Lord frustrates the counsel of the nationshe thwarts the plans of the peoples.
11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart from generation to generation.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord—the people he has chosen to be his own possession!

  • The people and nations and their future.

13 The Lord looks down from heaven; he observes everyone.
14 He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth from his dwelling place.
15 He forms the hearts of them all; he considers all their works A.
16 A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be rescued by great strength.
17 The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power.

18 But look, the Lord keeps his eye on those who fear him—those who depend on his faithful love
19 to rescue them from death and to keep them alive in famine.

  • The happiness and hope of those who are saved–those who have peace with God and the peace of God.

20 We wait for the LORD; He is our help and shield.
21 For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name.
22 May Your faithful love rest on us, LORD, for we put our hope in You.

A- X  Jesus will help me to love Him and others because of His great power and the love He has already demonstrated to me on the cross.

R- O God, help me to live daily a Jesus-centered life with my hope in Jesus in all circumstances of life.
