Devotional scripture from Hosea 1 & 3

Introduction: The Lord spoke to Hosea and said marry an unfaithful woman and be a picture of My relationship with the unfaithful Israelites — Israel [ten northern tribes] and Judah [Judah and Benjamin]. Bible Project overview of Hosea.

1. Jezreel pointed to demise of Israel [fulfilled by Assyrians   722 BC ..2 Kings 17:6-12]- Hosea 1:2-5… ² When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take for yourself a wife inclined to infidelity, and children of infidelity; for the land commits flagrant infidelity, abandoning the Lord.” ³ So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son. ⁴ And the Lord said to him, “Name him Jezreel; for in just a little while I will punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel, and I -will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. ⁵ On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel.” NASB

2.Judah will be saved  [fulfilled by the destruction of the Assyrians by an angel of the Lord..2 Kings 19:32-35]…-Hosea 1:6-9…⁶ Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And the Lord said to him, “Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer take pity on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them. ⁷ But I will take pity on the house of Judah and save them by the Lord their God, and will not save them by bow, sword, battle, horses, or horsemen.” ⁸ When she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and gave birth to a son. ⁹ And the Lord said, “Name him Lo-ammi, because you are not My people, and I am not your God.

3. The Lord called Hosea to forgive his unfaithful wife to demonstrate His love for the Israelites – Hosea 3:1-3…¹Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by her husband, yet is committing adultery, as the Lord loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.” ² So I purchased her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver, and a homer and a lethech of barley. ³ Then I said to her, “You shall live with me for many days. You shall not play the prostitute, nor shall you have another man; so I will also be toward you.” 

4.Israel will return to the Lord [ will be fulfilled in the last days] – Hosea 3:4-5…⁴ For the sons of Israel will live for many days without a king or leader, without sacrifice or memorial stone, and without ephod or household idols. ⁵ Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness in the last days.

1.Monday – 1010/2022 – [65] James 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  Memorize [100] verses             

2.Tuesday – 10/11/2022 – [66] James 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Memorize [100] verses             

Introduction: Micah wrote this book in 735 BC [Biblehub Timelines for Micah], 13 years before the 10 northern tribes were destroyed by Assyria in 722 BC and before Jerusalem was destroyed by Babylon in 586 BC. 3. Wednesday – 10/12/2022 – The rulers of Israel were evil – Micah 3:1-3… ¹ And I said, “Hear now, you leaders of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice? ² You who hate good and love evil, Who tear off their skin from them And their flesh from their bones, ³ Who eat the flesh of my people, Strip off their skin from them, Smash their bones, And chop them up as for the pot, And as meat in a cauldron!”

4.Thursday – 10/13/2022 – The  Lord  will not answer their cry – Micah 3:4-6…  ⁴ Then they will cry out to the Lord, But He will not answer them. Instead, He will hide His face from them at that time Because they have practiced evil deeds. ⁵ This is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray: When they have something to bite with their teeth,  They cry out, “Peace!” But against him who puts nothing in their mouths They declare holy war. ⁶ Therefore it will be night for you—without vision, And darkness for you—without divination. The sun will go down on the prophets, And the day will become dark over them.

5. Friday – 10/14/2022 – False prophets – Micah 3:7-9… ⁷ The seers will be put to shame, And the diviners will be ashamed. Indeed, they will all cover their lips, Because there is no answer from God. ⁸ On the other hand, I am filled with power—With the Spirit of the Lord—And with justice and courage
To make known to Jacob his rebellious act, And to Israel his sin. ⁹ Now hear this, you heads of the house of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel, Who despise justice And twist everything that is straight,

6. Saturday – 10/15/2022 – Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed by Babylon in 586 BC – Micah 3:10-12… ¹⁰ Who build Zion with bloodshed, And Jerusalem with malice. ¹¹ Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, saying, “Is the Lord not in our midst? Catastrophe will not come upon  .” ¹² Therefore on account of you, Zion will plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest.

7 Church Eras from Revelation 2-3

Revelation is a complicated book with different interpretations. I will not try to defend anyone except I believe the Apostle John was the writer.

I am finishing my 6 month Bible Reading by reading Revelations one book at a time. on 11/20/20 I read chapter 2. 

” The seven churches described in Revelation 2-3 are seven literal churches at the time that John the apostle was writing Revelation. Though they were literal churches in that time, there is also spiritual significance for churches and believers today. The first purpose of the letters was to communicate with the literal churches and meet their needs at that time. The second purpose is to reveal seven different types of individuals/churches throughout history and instruct them in God’s truth. Our focus should be on what message God is giving us through the seven churches. The seven churches are:

(1) Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7) – the church that had forsaken its first love (2:4).

(2) Smyrna (Revelation 2:8-11) – the church that would suffer persecution (2:10).

(3) Pergamum (Revelation 2:12-17) – the church that needed to repent (2:16).

(4) Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29) – the church that had a false prophetess (2:20).

(5) Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6) – the church that had fallen asleep (3:2).

(6) Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13) – the church that had endured patiently (3:10).

(7) Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22) – the church with the lukewarm faith (3:16).”  Source

The 7 Churches of Revelations 2:1-3:2. “The conditions of the 1st 3 churches relate only to that church era. The next 4 church eras build on each other.
