Pursuing Humility, Wisdom, and Holiness!

H- X Proverbs 15:33 Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor. NLT

E- Proverbs 15 contrasts the righteous person who believes in the Word of God with a wicked person who rejects God. Below I have summarized the result of life for the person who follows God in most verses.

I. A gentle tongue turns away wrath [v.1], wisdom makes knowledge appealing [v.2], gentle words are alive [v.4], knowledge is spread by the tongue of the wise [v.7], A cool-tempered person stops disputes [v.18], It is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time [v.23], The Lord delights in pure words [v.26], The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking [v.28].

II. The eyes of the Lord are in every place watching the evil and the good [v.3], The Lord hears the prayers of the righteous [v.29].

III. Whoever learns from correction is wise [v.5], Sensible children bring joy to their parents [v.20], A sensible person stays on the right path [v.21], Many advisors bring success [v.22], The path of life leads up for the wise [v.24], The Lord delights in pure words [v.26], the wise listen to constructive criticism [v.31], listening to criticism will help you grow in understanding [v.32]

IV. Treasure is in the house of the godly [v.6], God delights in the prayer of the righteous [v.8], God loves the one pursuing holiness [v.9], A wise person pursues knowledge [v.14], Better to have a little with the fear of the Lord [v.16], A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak  [v.17], The path of the upright is an open road [v.19], Greed brings grief to the family [v.27]

V. A cheerful heart makes a cheerful face [v.13], A life with a happy heart is a continual feast [v.15].

A- Pursuing wisdom from God and holy living is my desire.

R- O God, give me the strength, courage and filling by the Spirit’s content that enables me to live with humility, wisdom, and holiness?
