I am the LORD, and there is no other

H- [X] Isaiah 45:18 — For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the LORD, and there is no other. #23 Creation Series

Isaiah 45:1 describes Cyrus 100 years before he was born as the rebuilder of Jerusalem. After 70 years in Babylon captivity Persian King Cyrus released the Jews to return and rebuild Jerusalem and the temple as promised [2 Chronicles 36:10-23, 535BC].

“I am the LORD [O] and there is no other” is repeated in v.5,6,18,22. He alone has the power to create and sustain the universe and everything in the earth. “Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited:” We live on earth because of the marvelous systems He set up to sustain life. Every breath we take, the food we eat, and the water we drink are a result of His creation plan. He formed it for us to inhabit the earth.

“I am the Lord and there is no other” also resides in the people today who have believed in Jesus as Savior by faith [A]. Someday Jesus will return to earth in victory and judgment. Afterwards all those who reject Jesus on earth will bow their knee to Jesus but it will be to late [Isaiah 45:23, Philippians 2:10, Revelation 20:11-15].

A-God can take care of His children today on earth,

R-O God give me power through the Holy Spirit to do Your will daily, without anxiety or fear!

God created the heavens and earth!

H- [X] Isaiah 42:5   Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: #22 in Creation Series

E- Isaiah 42:1-7 is the first of 4 “servant songs” in Isaiah, referring to Jesus the Messiah [Isaiah 49:1-6, 50:1-11, 52:13-53:12] Three thoughts about 42:1-7:

1.Vv.1-4…Jesus, the Suffering Servant is presented as weak, despised, rejected, and slain.

2.V.5…The Lord created the heavens and earth and everything in them. He created  people and gave them breath and spirit. This is the 22nd time God has revealed Himself as the Creator beginning in Genesis [there are 33+ verses to go]. As I began this study I was amazed at the number times the Word of God reveals that God is the Creator! It is apperent that God seriously wants His children to know that He created everything in the beginning.

3.Vv.1,6…The work of the Suffering Servant is for all the nations. The salvation is available to people of all nations who believe by faith in Jesus as their Savior [Romans 10:17,9] [A].

A- God was the Creator and is the sustainer. The old heavens and earth will be replaced by the new heaven and earth in the future [Revelation 21:1-5].

H- O God help me to submit humbly in faith to Your great power!

The LORD is the Creator

H-[X] Isaiah 40:28 —Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,  and his understanding no one can fathom. NIV #21 Creation Series

E- Instead of looking to God for their strength and power, the nation of Israel was complaining and wondered where God was. In verse 28 He answered that question. It is God the LORD the creator of the earth, He never faints nor is weary and His understanding is without question. The Creator of the universe can take care of Israel’s problems and my problems.

Vv.29-31… have been favorite promises of mine for many years. In verse 29 the LORD [O] promises to give strength to the weary. In verse 31 for those who wait on the LORD, He promises to give strength; they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. As I have tried to serve Jesus and provide for my family going back to 1962, I would grow tired. Then I would go to these verses to gain new strength from Jesus.

A- Jesus, the Creator of the universe, was always faithful to provide strength for my weary body and soul.

H- O Jesus, the Creator, help me to wait on You and be filled with Your strength and power. [A]

His Son’s Name

H- [X] Proverbs 30:4…

4a Who has ascended into heaven and descended?
b Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
c Who has wrapped the waters in His garment?
d Who has established all the ends of the earth?
e What is His name or His son’s name?

Surely you know!
NASB1995 The Creation Series #54

E- In v.4 the writer asks 6 questions. The answer to v.4a is Jesus [John 3:13]. In John 1:1-3 we find that all things into came into being through the Son, Jesus. In Colossians 1:15-17 we also find that in Jesus all things were created and hold together. So, God the Son, Jesus as Creator and Sustainer is the answer to v.4b, 4c, and 4d.

Then in v.4e the writer asks two questions What is His name or His son’s name?” In the Old Testament Yahweh occurs 6,823 times. This name is used more than any other for the name of God in the Old Testament. So, the answer to What is His name is Yahweh or Jehovah [Z1], [O] There are many other names as well.

The Son’s name? The angel commanded Joseph, “you shall call His name Jesus” (“Jehovah saves”) [Matthew 1:21] God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, Jesus.  At the name of Jesus every knee will bow! [Philippians 2:7-11] [A]  “The Jehovah of the Old Testament is the Jesus of the New Testament.”  [Z2]

A- In Proverbs 30:4 the Son is revealed. In Genesis 3:15 Jesus defeats satan [U]. Jesus is the suffering servant in Isaiah 53.

H- O God help to humble myself at the name of Jesus and be filled and led by His Spirit.

The Leftovers

H- [X] Ecclesiastes 12:1 — Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”:   #20 in  Creation series

E- “Remember your Creator” is a command to youth to fear, love, faithfully serve and worship God – who had the wisdom and power to create the magnificent universe and you. Youth is a better time than old age to seriously pursue the duties of loving and serving Jesus. Old age will bring the difficult days with its infirmities, evil days, and sadness. He suggests that there will be a time when you have no pleasure in them. But that is not true for the Disciple [A]  who loves Jesus and is looking forward to being with Him soon. Someone, who has not given the leftovers to Jesus:

 Leftovers

Leftovers are such humble things,
We would not serve to a guest,
And yet we serve them to our Lord
Who deserves the very best.

We give to Him leftover time,
Stray minutes here and there.
Leftover cash we give to Him,
Such few coins as we can spare.

We give our youth unto the world,
To hatred, lust and strife;
Then in declining years we give
To him the remnant of our life.”- Author Unknown [Z1]

A- Now is the time to make Jesus first in our life whatever our age.

Trusting the Creator of the universe!

H- [X] 1 Peter 4:2,19…so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God. NASB  [Z1]

E- Because of the suffering of Jesus, every person has the opportunity to believe in Jesus as the resurrected Son of God and be saved. [A1] The Disciple can then grow by the grace of God, the Word of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit. [A2 & A3]

Then even when suffering and hard times come, the Disciple does not live according to the former human lusts but for the will of God. There is a remarkable change due to the growth of the Disciple; a desire to obey the will of God.

19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God are to entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.

Even when we are suffering because we are doing the will of God there is a way of peace and joy. We are to entrust our souls to the faithful Creator. The faithful Omnipotent God created the universe and each individual. He can certainly be trusted with our souls. Our desire to do His will results in doing what is right; including obeying the commandments of Jesus. This is not to secure anything by works but to demonstrate our love for Jesus [John 14:15]

A- God who created us can certainly take care of our problems and He will never fail us.

H- O God I’m so weak today! Please give me your strength to do Your will and help me reveal your glory to others.

The Rich and Poor!

H- [X] Proverbs 22:2 — The rich and the poor have this in common, The LORD [O] is the maker of them all. #19 in Creation series

E- The Lord is the Maker of all people since Adam and Eve, including the rich and poor. “The rich and the poor have this in common” Jesus died on the cross for the sins of everyone who ever lives on earth. Jesus  “Himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.” [1 John 2:2 NLT] But the sacrifice is not effective until a person believes in Jesus. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.” [John 3:16 NASB] [A]

John Phillips said “The rich and poor are brought together in the Bible. Their meeting is occasioned by sovereign God to give both of them an opportunity to develop character. The rich man is given a chance to develop compassion and the poor man is given a chance to develop commitment” [Z1]

Nathans parable describes a rich person who was unconcerned about a poor person [2 Samuel 12:1-9] Luke told the story of the rich man and poor man [Lazarus] [Luke 16:19-31]. The rich person had a vastly different view of Lazarus when he died and went to hell and saw Lazarus the poor person in heaven, but it was too late to change eternal positions. James describes a sinful church that gives preferential treatment to a rich person [James 2:19]. James speaks in chapter 5:1-8 toward the end of the age. Disciples are to be patient because the rich people who have abused the poor will receive the judgment of God.

Peter said: 34 I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality.” [Acts 10:34]

A-The Lord is the maker of all people and wants all people to believe in Jesus as their Savior.

H- O God help me to reveal your glory to people everywhere and Your desire for them to know You as Savior.

Our incredibly complex ears and eyes!

H- [X]  Proverbs 20:12 — The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The LORD has made them both. #18 in Creation series

E- Our incredibly designed eyes and ears were designed by a master designer with both controlled by our incredible brain. It is not reasonable to think that such elaborate system could evolve over any length of time through survival of the strongest.

I have had enormous amounts of trouble with my eyes since I was 21. My doctor in a small rural town said that I needed to exercise my eyes by crossing them. I made it through work and reading many years but could not watch any screens. Then a new doctor in Jacksonville gave me contact lenses with monovision. One eye was for distance and the other for close up. He said the brain will make the adjustment and he was right. Then came two operations for a torn retina on the same eye and inserting monovision lenses in both eyes. With this I could watch screens like this computer and the TV. I have come away from this experience with an enormous amount of thankfulness for the flexibility designed into our eyes, ears, and brains.

See footnote Z1 for detailed pictures and explanations of the eye and ear. One of the eyes sources said “The human eye is a marvel of built-in engineering, combining reflected light, lens imaging capability, multiple lighting adjustments and information processing – all in the space of your eyeball. “

A- Our brain, eyes, and ears are incredible designs by the Omnipotent Creator. I am still exercising my eyes the same way.

R- O God help me be thankful everyday for your provision of sight and hearing.

A labelled diagram showing a cutaway of the different parts of the human ear, from the outer ear through the middle ear to the inner ear.

“How do we hear?

The physiology of hearing, just like its anatomy, is very complex indeed and is best understood by looking at the role played by each part of our hearing system described above.

Sound waves, which are really vibrations in the air around us, are collected by the ear lobes on each side of our head and are funneled into the ear canals. These sound waves make the eardrum vibrate. The eardrum is so sensitive to sound vibrations in the ear canal that it can detect even the faintest sound as well as replicating even the most complex of sound vibration patterns.

The eardrum vibrations caused by sound waves move the chain of tiny bones (the ossicles – malleus, incus and stapes) in the middle ear transferring the sound vibrations into the cochlea of the inner ear.

This happens because the last of the three bones in this chain, the stapes, sits in a membrane-covered window in the bony wall which separates the middle ear from the cochlea of the inner ear. As the stapes vibrates, it makes the fluids in the cochlea move in a wave-like manner, stimulating the microscopically small ‘hair cells’.

Remarkably, the ‘hair cells’ in the cochlea are tuned to respond to different sounds based on their pitch or frequency of sounds. High-pitched sounds will stimulate ‘hair cells’ in the lower part of the cochlea and low-pitched sounds in the upper part of the cochlea.

What happens next is even more remarkable because, when each ‘hair cell’ detects the pitch or frequency of sound to which it’s tuned to respond, it generates nerve impulses which travel instantaneously along the auditory nerve.

These nerve impulses follow a complicated pathway in the brainstem before arriving at the hearing centres of the brain, the auditory cortex. This is where the streams of nerve impulses are converted into meaningful sound.

All of this happens within a tiny fraction of a second….almost instantaneously after sound waves first enter our ear canals. It is very true to say that, ultimately, we hear with our brain.” Source

The Eye:

“The human eye is a marvel of built-in engineering, combining reflected light, lens imaging capability, multiple lighting adjustments and information processing – all in the space of your eyeball. When working properly, the human eye converts light into impulses that are conveyed to the brain and interpreted as images.

To understand how the human eye works, first imagine a photographic camera – since cameras were developed very much with the human eye in mind.

How do we see what we see?

Light reflects off of objects and enters the eyeball through a transparent layer of tissue at the front of the eye called the cornea. The cornea accepts widely divergent light rays and bends them through the pupil – the dark opening in the center of the colored portion of the eye.

The pupil appears to expand or contract automatically based on the intensity of the light entering the eye. In truth, this action is controlled by the iris – a ring of muscles within the colored portion of the eye that adjusts the pupil opening based on the intensity of light. (So when a pupil appears to expand or contract, it is actually the iris doing its job.)

The adjusted light passes through the lens of the eye. Located behind the pupil, the lens automatically adjusts the path of the light and brings it into sharp focus onto the receiving area at back of the eye – the retina.

An amazing membrane full of photoreceptors (a.k.a. the “rods and cones”), the retina converts the light rays into electrical impulses. These then travel through the optic nerve at the back of the eye to the brain, where an image is finally perceived.

A delicate system, subject to flaws.

It’s easy to see that a slight alteration in any aspect of how the human eye works – the shape of the eyeball, the cornea’s health, lens shape and curvature, retina problems – can cause the eye to produce fuzzy or blurred vision. That is why many people need vision correction. Eyeglasses and contact lenses help the light focus images correctly on the retina and allow people to see clearly.

In effect, a lens is put in front of the eye to make up for any deficiencies in the complex vision process.

The main parts of the human eye include:

  • Cornea: transparent tissue covering the front of the eye that lets light travel through
  • Iris: a ring of muscles in the colored part of the eye that controls the size of the pupil
  • Pupil: an opening in the center of the iris that changes size to control how much light is entering the eye.
  • Sclera: the white part of the eye that is composed of fibrous tissue that protects the inner workings of the eye
  • Lens: located directly behind the pupil, it focuses light rays onto the retina
  • Retina: membrane at the back of the eye that changes light into nerve signals
  • Rods and cones: special cells used by the retina to process light
  • Fovea: a tiny spot in the center of the retina that contains only cone cells. It allows us to see things sharply.
  • Optic Nerve: a bundle of nerve fibers that carries messages from the eyes to the brain

Macula: a small and highly sensitive part of the retina responsible for central vision, which allows a person to see shapes, colors, and details clearly and sharply.” Source

The universe was founded by wisdom and understanding

H- [X] Proverbs 3:19-20… 19 The Lord founded the earth by wisdom, He established the heavens by understanding.
20 By His knowledge the ocean depths were burst open,
And the clouds drip with dew.

Earth’s atmosphere has five major and several secondary layers.

E- The LORD [O] founded the earth and heavens by His wisdom and understanding. Through His omnipotent power He designed our atmosphere and earths mass so humans could live and work within its atmosphere and find resources for life from the earths crust. The earth is finetuned to exist as a planet revolving around our sun. The Bible tells us [A]  that God created the earth and the heavens through His wisdom and understanding.

Troposphere. Earth’s troposphere extends from Earth’s surface to, on average, about 7.5 miles in height. It holds all the air plants need for photosynthesis and humans and animals need to breathe, and also contains about 99 percent of all water.

Stratosphere. Located between approximately 7.5 and 31 miles above Earth’s surface, the stratosphere is perhaps best known as home to Earth’s ozone layer, which protects us from the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Mesosphere. Located between about 31 and 50 miles above Earth’s surface, the mesosphere gets progressively colder with altitude.

Thermosphere. Located between about 50 and 440 miles above Earth’s surface is the thermosphere, whose lowest part contains the ionosphere.

Exosphere. Located between about 440 and 6,200 miles above Earth’s surface, Most Earth satellites orbit in the exosphere. Source See image below!

The Composition and Structure of the Earth

Core, mantle, and crust are divisions based on composition. The crust makes up less than 1 percent of Earth by mass, consisting of oceanic crust and continental crust is often more felsic rock. The mantle is hot and represents about 68 percent of Earth’s mass. Finally, the core is mostly iron metal. The core makes up about 31% of the Earth. Lithosphere and asthenosphere are divisions based on mechanical properties. The lithosphere is composed of both the crust and the portion of the upper mantle that behaves as a brittle, rigid solid. The asthenosphere is partially molten upper mantle material that behaves plastically and can flow. Earth Source See two images below!

A- Dew is just one example of the LORD’s finetuning so plants and animals could receive a watery blessing each morning. See 4th image below for earths water cycle designed by the LORD.
