The power of God for Then – Now – Then!

H- 1 Corinthians 1:30 But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God [revealing His plan of salvation], and righteousness[then – making us acceptable to God], and sanctification [now – making us holy and setting us apart for God], and redemption [then – providing our ransom from the penalty for sin], AMP

E- All who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior are in Christ Jesus eternally. [John 3:16, Romans 8:9-10 HCSB] He is The Disciples Y wisdom. The emphasis here is that God shows His wisdom by the righteousness, sanctification, and redemption we have in Jesus.

These 3 big words have very powerful meanings for the Disciple A.

Righteousness – we have been declared acceptable or righteous before God by the exchange of our sin for the righteousness of God. [2 Corinthians 5:21] This is the greatest exchange any person can ever make; a one-time event at the time a person believes in Jesus. We have been saved from the penalty of sin – righteousness – then on earth.

Sanctification – set apart to belong to God, to conform to the image of Jesus, and to serve Him. Also sometimes called progressive sanctification. We are being saved from the power of sin – sanctification – now on earth.

Redemption – we are set free from the ultimate penalty of sin because of Jesus paying for that sin on the cross. We will be saved from the presence of sin – redemption – then in heaven.

Paul ends with v.31 “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” We are never to boast of our work but give all the glory to the all-powerful, present, wise, and knowing God – the Creator and Sustainer of this great universe.

A- X  I have great blessings to thank God for: then – now – then!

R – May I surrender to Jesus every day and let the Holy Spirit guide my life instead of my sinful nature in response to the great blessings from Jesus.
