I am the LORD, and there is no other

H- [X] Isaiah 45:18 — For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the LORD, and there is no other. #23 Creation Series

Isaiah 45:1 describes Cyrus 100 years before he was born as the rebuilder of Jerusalem. After 70 years in Babylon captivity Persian King Cyrus released the Jews to return and rebuild Jerusalem and the temple as promised [2 Chronicles 36:10-23, 535BC].

“I am the LORD [O] and there is no other” is repeated in v.5,6,18,22. He alone has the power to create and sustain the universe and everything in the earth. “Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited:” We live on earth because of the marvelous systems He set up to sustain life. Every breath we take, the food we eat, and the water we drink are a result of His creation plan. He formed it for us to inhabit the earth.

“I am the Lord and there is no other” also resides in the people today who have believed in Jesus as Savior by faith [A]. Someday Jesus will return to earth in victory and judgment. Afterwards all those who reject Jesus on earth will bow their knee to Jesus but it will be to late [Isaiah 45:23, Philippians 2:10, Revelation 20:11-15].
