Exodus 12:28 Then the sons of Israel went and did so; just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
The Israelites were instructed to prepare and eat the lamb in haste because they needed to be ready to leave in the morning. They were to be in such haste that they were to kill the lamb at twilight and roast it whole. Any left over was to be burned in the morning. At midnight the Lord would go over all Egypt killing the first born of every house without the blood applied. A
The Israelites did as instructed by Moses, killing the Passover lamb and painting the blood on the lintel and doorposts of their house and remaining in the house until the morning. B They waited with great expectation for deliverance from Egypt in the morning with the wealth of Egypt. Can you imagine anyone sleeping that night?
As I have thought about v.28 I was reminded of disciples today waiting on the rapture “Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.” C
God has not given us a definite time for rapture and then the 2nd coming of Jesus but we are instructed “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.” D ; “The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another,” E and “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.” F
Father help me finish strong with great joy, sound judgment, sober spirit, alertness, love and keeping Your commandments.
